This is one of those topics that get you in trouble for more than a few reasons: people REALLY don’t want to hear about it, you end up telling on yourself, people end up feeling like you are talking about them, etc.
First, lets get a few things straight: to submit to someone means that you have to be in a position of strength to do so. Christ chose to die on the cross and at any time could have chose not to. Christ chose to limit Himself to the places and people He ministered to. He could have done much more or less for that matter. Some people reading this are already irritated with this article and may not even know why. Everything I have mentioned above is true. Christ could have done anything He wanted to, but He chose to submit to the Father and walk in the steps placed before Him. We also have the choice to do what ever we want. We can do the most righteous and godly feats ever seen on the face of the earth or we can do the most heinous, perverse and demonic sin. Read the rest of this entry »

Isaiah 58
When the Lord first called me with this chapter twenty-five years ago, I had absolutely no idea the changes I would go through in my life to even begin understanding the context of this passage. What amazes me even more is how much of that call was already in my make up from birth. People that stand on this passage usually do so from a “us and them” mentality. I submit to you that without thought or investigation please understand these people will ALWAYS be in error and should not be heard. Legitament godly authority will always serve you and the Lord.

Luke 17
When I hear this passage discussed, it usually is split into peices as if they are different topics. I do not feel this may be the case. Stumbling blocks, unworthy slaves, lepers, Pharisees and the second coming of Christ seem to be disconnected unless you read it from the perspective of what Jesus was saying and doing in each of these sections.

For the first time in Isaiah we see a shift in that we are no longer looking at the people of God in their flesh. We are no longer looking at God allowing His people to reap what they have sown because of their sin. We simply are looking at the Lord of hosts seated on His thrown and the Seraphim calling out what the people of God should have been seeing, what their focus should have been on all along.

Isaiah chapter 5 should be a very disturbing chapter to most readers. The Lord begins a song (parable) of His vineyard. In verse 7 we are told that this vineyard is the house of Israel, but the interesting thing concerning this parable is its multiple applications. New testament believers should understand that individually and collectively we are the House of Israel. This passage is not talking to them at that time. It is illustrating the Lord’s involvement in a covenant relationship with his children.

“Enter the rock and hide in the dust…” This apparently harsh statement (Isaiah 2:10) appears to be an undesirable fruit of being righteous before God, that is, until you read what the Lord has to say afterwards. Basically God just warned people to get out of the way, because he was about to begin to judge His people, the House of Jacob (ISA 2:5). Some of these people had already judged themselves and stood righteous before the Lord (ISA 2:3,4) and were executing his will in the earth.

“Transgressors and sinners shall be crushed together…” This statement balances the “false scales” that many people carry very fast. One would hope that while the sinner and the one who sinned against them are both being crushed by the hand of God that they will repent. Imagine a world in which no man has any sin against any other man. We really are all the same: in need of a Savior and none of us are more significant than any other. Some people would read this and think that last statement means that none of us are worth anything, which is of course not accurate. We are all priceless.

Isaiah 1:18 – 27
If you consent and obey…
To give consent means not only to agree but to bear witness to. This is much more personal and involved. Obedience is the only thing in your life which should be all about you.
