I had a dream where I saw a ministry which had begun pushing into the dark areas of St Petersburg, FL. The problem is, they had unwittingly entered a maze.
There were two women associated with the ministry, out in the streets, pressing people to be set free, and yet nothing was happening. The Spirit of God seemed to be distant and the men stood at a distance looking over the land as if they understood the needs of the area.
At one point the women came back, frustrated at their inability to actually reach out and affect anyone, and began to think they were not sent by God and were in fact wasting their time.
They came back to the men asking for direction and the men explained to them everything they felt the women needed to know about the area.
In the dream, I traveled back to the streets with the women, and soon came upon a scene they knew very well. The women began to explain the situation and told me about the people standing by a "white / bone colored" parking garage.
They seemed to have established an understanding of the these people and their histories. The women knew their stories and simply responded to the two individuals as they had done multiple times before.
There was a boy in his middle teens dressed in dirty white sneakers, blue jeans and a red windbreaker with a hood. On his back he had a backpack, which contained a large bunny rabbit, which was dirty from the streets and very old.
An old man walked up and pulled the rabbit out of the backpack, as it was over three feet tall. The boy immediately spun around and grabbed the stuffed animal and the two began a tug-of-war as if their lives depended on it.
Back and forth they pulled, though neither seemed to be actually put any physical exertion into the effort. At times, the boy had pulled the old man into the street, while the old man would pull the boy into an outside corner of the parking garage.
The women tried to intervene and were simply cast to the side as if they were powerless and meant nothing.
They did not matter - only the toy mattered.
The boy and the old man only thought of the stuffed animal and focused on it with clenched teeth.
Sitting on the ground, the women began to look around, cry, and pray.
"Where are our men?", they wondered.
"Why can't we handle a simple old man and a young boy?"
Distraught and cast aside these woman began to doubt themselves, their authority and even their relationship with the men who they had gone to speak to for help.
I walked past the women and commanded the boy to stand where we he was and to release the rabbit.
The old man had pulled the struggle into the corner and was happily grinning with his victory.
The boy simply stood there and looked at me.
The women made their way to the boy and began talking to him.
I set my eyes on the old man and his newly acquired rabbit.
I walked over to him and snatched the rabbit from his hands and cast it to the ground. When it hit the concrete it shattered in hundreds of pieces.
Immediately, the old man became a woman who was dark and menacing.
She seem to grow and take on strength not her own, and tried to over power me. She did not like the fact, I had exposed her from her cleverly hidden disguise.
The Spirit within me grew angry with righteous indignation.
I walked towards her quickly, and took her wrists in my hands and began backing the woman to her favorite corner. Out of the depths of my Spirit God roared:
You have no power here, I have bought this city with my very own blood! Now leave this place! It is mine!
Both the woman and the boy disappeared into nothingness.
The women and I were left standing alone.
I realized the boy had been dressed for colder weather and rain, and the old man had been dressed in very old rags. Neither of them fit in the environment. Both were dressed for some place else entirely, and even more so for hiding at night.
The entire situation was simply an elaborate distraction to play upon the eyes of those who looked on.
Everything had been orchestrated to get the ministry to take sides in a "struggle" of a demonic game of tug-of-war, where no winner had ever actually been the point.
Getting God's people distracted with a fight not their own, placed them where they could no longer "win" God's plan.
Nothing was as it appeared.
Nothing was real.
Nothing was the point and purpose of the struggle.
The plan had simply been to expend energy, the depletion of resources, and to distract godly people to false symptoms.
They had needed to look beyond what they saw.
They had needed to understand the rabbit was only an idol.
